Christina Wei, PhD, APRN, PMHNP-BC, is the founder and lead Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner at Sage Psychiatric Care in San Antonio, Texas. With over 25 years of experience, Christina is known for her compassionate, patient-centered approach to mental health care. She specializes in crafting individualized treatment plans that empower patients and prioritize their unique goals, blending clinical expertise with a deep commitment to collaboration. Christina offers a wide range of services, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for trauma, psychotherapy, group therapy, and evidence-based medication management. She also embraces holistic strategies to support mental wellness beyond medication, helping patients build sustainable paths to healing and resilience.

In 2022, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Wei became the first prescriber in San Antonio to undergo formal training and certification in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) through EMDRIA. She is currently pursuing the EMDR certification process under the guidance of an EMDRIA-approved consultant. In 2025, she began foundational training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) through the Beck Institute with the goal of achieving certification in CBT for trauma. In addition, she is trained in ketamine and Spravato treatment for difficult to treat mood disorders and has advanced training in hormone replacement therapy for both men and women.

Sage Psychiatric Care thrives on collaboration, and Christina believes in working closely with her patients to develop well-thought-out and comprehensive treatment plans. She encourages patient input and questions so they feel empowered and informed throughout their journey to mental wellness.

Professional Accomplishments

In 2015, Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Wei became the first Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to own a mental health clinic in San Antonio. Since that time, she has remained deeply committed to education, scholarship, and mentorship, beginning her work as a preceptor for Psychiatric/Mental Health Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner students. She has precepted more than 40 students, authored and co-authored academic research articles, and was selected as a Pre-doctoral Fellow of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) at the American Nurses Association.  Through the SAMSA Pre-Doctoral Fellowship she traveled across the United States attending national seminars and gaining in-depth exposure to mental health care systems and practices across diverse states over a 5 year period. She has also co-developed two Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner programs at two universities in Texas and taught Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner students and psychiatric nursing students at three universities in Texas. She considers her greatest professional accomplishment to be helping improve people’s mental health.
